Coming out of My Comfort Zone: How I Came to the Navigator

My first year at the Navigator was the 2023-2024 school year. While I have come to really enjoy being here on staff, I was, at first, very hesitant to join. I had never been part of anything remotely like a school newspaper. Would I be a good fit? Would I do a good job? What would we even be doing? Needless to say, this felt very much out of my comfort zone.
While I felt very uncertain about joining the Navigator, it was thanks to Mrs. Meyer that I ultimately decided to join. At the time, I had been in her English Honors course. As the teacher who presides over the student newspaper, she thought that I would be a good fit. For this reason, I bit the bullet and joined the team. This was a great decision! I became part of an amazing team that produces amazing content! The Navigator is a place where students are not only able to hone their writing skills, but also learn how to work with their peers.
If there are those out there who are considering joining but are hesitant to, I would just say, do not be afraid to leave your comfort zone. For me personally, joining the Nav may have seemed daunting, but it ultimately resulted in so many good things! We are always looking for new team members, so we would love it if you joined! Many of us here only have one year left of school. We cannot be at the Navigator forever. This is why we need a new generation of staff to rise to the challenge! I hope that my story can inspire people to join!
