Excitement and Encouragement: An NSA Story

As the clock ticks closer and closer to graduation, a mix of emotions swirls through my head. I’m excited for the new adventures to come in college, but I’m also nervous to leave because NSA has been the most supportive community I know.
I have been attending NorthStar for five years now. When I started in eighth grade, I was still getting used to the idea of online school and hardly talked to anyone on Teams besides my teachers. Not only that, but I had only 27 weeks to complete 36 weeks of work, since I had attended public school for the first nine weeks of the school year. By ninth grade, I was spending more time talking to friends and exploring what NSA had to offer. Now, in twelfth grade, I have a good group of friends and a wonderful club I help to lead. Being part of the Navigator, the NorthStar school newspaper, also helped me to interact with others here, since I had opportunities to collaborate with the rest of the team to create a great publication every month.
Now that I know I will have to leave, NorthStar feels even sweeter to me. I’ve been treasuring every conversation, assignment, or silly meme. I also begin to wonder if I will make friends like these at college. It took me a while to get used to attending NorthStar, and now I will have to get used to attending college instead. It will be a completely new experience for me.
On the plus side, I’m definitely looking forward to being a part of NSA graduation with the other seniors. I get to visit a new state in America and spend time with my friends in person! I hope I can use it as an opportunity to help others see how good God is.
After graduation, I’ll be attending Cedarville University in Ohio, close to where all four of my grandparents live. I plan to major in English, so I can continue to use my reading and writing skills. I’m glad I have this chance to improve my gifts and talents so I can use them for God’s glory.
If I’m being honest, my time at NSA has been more wonderful than I ever expected it to be. Having my brothers, friends, and kind teachers there has encouraged me beyond measure. Now, as I go into a place where I don’t know anyone, I have hope because NSA has taught me to seek boldness from God and trust Him always, and that’s really the most important thing you can ever learn.

Keziah H. lives in East Africa with her parents, two brothers, and a mischievous puppy named Bandit. This is her fifth and last year at NorthStar, and her second year at the Navigator. She likes to read almost any book she can get her hands on, but especially fantasy books. She also enjoys creative writing, coming up with awesome ideas with her brothers, and playing outside. She has been writing stories ever since she can remember and hopes to be an author when she grows up.
