The Bulletin Board - A Little-Known (and still active) Part of NSA Culture

One of the common questions circulating NSA right now is, “What is the Bulletin Board?” Well, I’m glad you asked because I just so happen to write for the Bulletin Board, and I find this question to be a sad one, considering the fact that the Bulletin Board always has been, and still is, a key feature of NSA Culture.

But what is it? And where is it? Well, it’s in Student Body. It’s got its own Team. But as for what it is… the word that best describes the Bulletin Board… well, there is no one word to describe it, so I’ll tell you what it has. The head editor is Caleb Muhling. The Bulletin Board (or BB) has NSAer of the week, quote of the week, meme of the week, birthday board, art and photography, and three consistent article columns. These article columns are Outrageous Advice (written by me), Prayers for Countries, and That’s Entertainment. The NSAer of the week is usually someone who’s done something spectacular, or been unusually helpful or kind, or been on time writing their articles (if they can’t find anyone else). The Quote of the Week is usually something funny an NSAer or group of NSAers said. The Meme of the Week is chosen from a group of meme submissions sent in by NSA students. The birthday board lists the known NSA student birthdays of the month, and the art and photography is taken from art and photography submitted by NSA students. A lot of the Bulletin Board is funny and really entertaining to read!

Recently, the Bulletin Board has been undergoing quite a change. Before, things weren’t terribly well organized, and it was supposed to be sent out every week. The writers were finding this difficult to deal with, along with school and life, and the BB could rarely keep up with its publishing schedule. Keenan Watt, co-editor of the Bulletin Board, recently brought those changes to it. She made it more organized for the writers, with a website to submit their articles or memes in, as well as changing up the format of the Bulletin Board itself to a more newsletter-like feel. She also changed the publications from once a week to once every two weeks, since publishing once a week was proving to be too much for the writers on top of all their other duties, namely schoolwork. Now, writers are finding it easier to keep up with the schedule, and the Bulletin Board gets published on time.

The Bulletin Board is such a neat little thing that the students have kept going over the years. It shows quite a unique perspective of student life and what the kids here at NSA are really like. It was kind of obscure and hidden for a while, and it would be great if the kids at NSA could bring it back to the popularity it deserves.
