A Community of Christ-Followers

By John C.

At NorthStar Academy, students have the choice to join a wide variety of clubs - nine to be exact. One club, the Bible Club, is rather popular among NSA Students. This club discusses everything Bible-related and has caused many NSA Students to experience growth of some sort. This article will provide background information and current data about the Bible Club as well as information regarding the content within the club, the growth of the club leaders, and the plans for the club’s future.

Three months ago, the NSA Bible Club was born. The club leaders, Chris and Jacob, teamed up to create and lead a club focused entirely on building a community of Christ-lovers and Christ-followers. Jacob explained that the Bible Club currently consists of 43 members. According to data collected on March 14, 2024, 30 members are regularly active in the club. As club leaders, Chris and Jacob share the responsibilities of the club and work together to ensure the success of the club. Chris and Jacob also create a “positive and engaging environment for [their] members.”

Any week within the Bible Club will experience variety in the topics discussed as well as the level of discussion. In an attempt to promote activity, Chris or Jacob will post a “Bible Verse of the Day” for members to reflect on and discuss. These verses are an encouragement to members of the club. In the general chat, members of the Bible Club are free to discuss any topics that are Bible-related. Jacob has taken the initiative to post Bible memes within the club as well. He explains that he does this to “break the ice, so students can be entertained while also learning about the Bible.” Finally, monthly calls are held within the club, which promotes further discussion of Scriptural topics as well as the advancement of community building.

Jacob analyzed how he has grown as a result of being a leader for the Bible Club and found that he has grown significantly in the last few months. Jacob said, “I have definitely improved my leadership skills by having the responsibility of leading a large group of people and helping them engage together.” Jacob also confidently declared that NSA students enjoy the Bible Club.

When asked about the future of the Bible Club, Jacob answered clearly, “We aim to increase student engagement and encourage them to become good examples of followers of Jesus Christ, as well as to help others.” The Bible Club has no plans to shut down anytime soon. Jacob and Chris hope for continual growth in the Bible Club, and they hope to inspire others to be Christ-like in their daily lives. Jacob did reveal that Chris is currently completing his final year at NSA, which means the Bible Club will need to find someone to take his role.

The Bible Club at NSA welcomes students to discuss anything Bible-related and to create a large community of Christian students. The club hopes to inspire students to become good examples of Christ, and to follow the word of God as they journey through life. I’ll leave you with a few of my favorite verses about Christian fellowship and community to encourage you and, hopefully, inspire you to join NSA’s Bible Club.

“For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” - Matthew 18:20

“For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.” - Romans 12:4-5
