See Ya In A Minute
Created in Canva
Time is a rather strange concept,
We live by it.
God lives outside of it.
Yet there will be a day when time stops,
And goes on for ever and ever.
Yesterday and tomorrow bleeding into one eternity.
On that day I will see all those I said goodbye too,
I'll greet those I've never met.
And I'll embrace those life long friends.
Time may carry us apart,
But one day our paths will cross again.
I suppose it really is only a minute, in the grand scheme of things.
Author’s note: This poem was inspired by a "goodbye" of sorts I had with a friend, who made a casual comment 'Might not see ya in a minute' (this friend is graduating and I wont see them for upwards of 2 years. Usually we get to see each other at least once a year, a dear friend of mine.) Most interestingly, and this is the most important context for the poem, I do not feel grieved or sad or hurt or angry. Rather I feel at peace. This poem is meant to depict that peace that I feel, and hope to carry with me to every "goodbye" that I say.
This is a student submission! That means that this was a piece of work made by an NSA student submitted to the Navigator, so that we can all share in the creativity God has given humanity!
