Tis the Season of Prayer

By Brooklyn C.

I have been blessed to meet so many amazing people in my life. Some of them are friends I talk to on a daily basis and others are contacts I keep in my phone who receive a “happy birthday” text once a year. In light of the upcoming holiday season, my goal for this article is to remind our wonderful readers that God is not only around during Easter and Christmas. He is always there to pick up the phone.

During my four years at NorthStar, I have come to learn just how much prayer is a part of this school. I remember joining my first NSA Connects session in ninth grade. Although the call was not labeled as a spiritual life session, the teacher started off the call with prayer. This is one of the many aspects I love about NorthStar. Even in parts of my life that seem to be disconnected from my spiritual life, I am reminded again that God is Lord of it all. I still need Him.

I love how NorthStar uses classes and calls to spread the message of the gospel. I pray that this season would be a time to share the good news of Christ to anyone willing to hear. Ellie, one of the members of the Navigator staff, summed this up with a couple lines herself: “I pray that there would be many students who come to know Christ because of NSA. Whether that is through classes, friendships, clubs, or community in general.”

When it comes to school, I am sure every student can testify that school gets harder the closer it gets to Christmas break. Mrs. Meyer prayed, “God, please bless NSA with the students that You want to come here. Bless the ones who are here and give them strength and diligence as they complete their courses.” I pray that the students at NSA would find their strength in Christ to finish strong. I pray that students would enjoy their classes (I know, crazy concept) and enjoy celebrating the birth of our Savior and Lord. I pray that students will learn about NSA through their friends and join the family of this school. I pray that those with or without gifts under their tree, those who are in a new home, and those who are away from family will all find rest in knowing that the light of the world has come.

Throughout the holiday festivities this season, I hope it is a time we use to remember God’s faithfulness and love through prayer. As Paul wrote in 1 Thessalonians, “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you”(Bible Gateway).
