Top Movies of 2025

2025 was a great year for movies. Several new superhero movies were released, the long expected Wicked sequel hit big in the box offices, and many kids movies became household favorites. A few examples include Superman, The Last Rodeo, and Zootopia 2. These movies were hits in theaters all across the United States. 

Superman was a highly anticipated movie. While there are several other versions of this movie, this one specifically was beloved. It follows reporter Clark Kent, A.K.A Superman as he fights crime, specifically as he fights Lex Luther, and“journeys to reconcile his kryptonian heritage” (“Superman (2025)”). Throughout the movie, watchers experience the hardships of being superman while also maintaining his secret identity. One watches as he joins up with a group of superheroes who call themselves the “Justice Gang.” In addition, watchers follow Lois Lane as she tries to help Superman defeat Lex Luthor. This is a roller coaster of a movie with so many twists and turns. This movie made $354,184,465 in the domestic theaters (IMDbPro). Needless to say, it was the highest grossing superman movie and a hit for this year. 

The Last Rodeo was released in May of 2025 and became a family hit. In this movie, you follow Joe Wainwright, a retired bull rider. In order to save his grandson, he must get back into the ring and ride bulls again. You experience the ups and downs of family, competition, and life in general. This is a movie the whole family can enjoy. It was released by Angel Studios and is a Christian film.  The Last Rodeo grossed about 15 million dollars domestically (Bonfield). Even though it might not be the highest grossing movie, it is still a sweet family watch. 

Zootopia 2 was highly anticipated by all. The first one became a childhood classic and is beloved. This movie follows Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde as they investigate Gary De'snake, the main antagonist, who reveals a long hidden conspiracy. The couple has to go undercover to save their name and Zootopia's reputation.  It is a lighthearted family movie that all can enjoy. This movie grossed 1.46 billion dollars, beating Frozen 2 as the highest grossing Disney movie (Moreau). To conclude, this is a family favorite and one that is great for a family movie night. 

These movies just scratch the surface of the incredible movies that were released in 2025. So many more movies were huge hits and must be watched. All these movies ranged from incredible to not so great. Needless to say, 2025 was a stellar year for theaters all across the country.
